Shamira

Shamira, a vibrant 3-year-old girl, has already faced more challenges in her young life than most could imagine.Alongside her siblings, Musa and Shakira, Shamira was born into a deeply vulnerable situation. Their biological mother, Prossy, is a 25-year-old woman living with multiple disabilities, including deafness and mental impairments, which have made it extremely difficult for her to provide the care her children so desperately need.

The family’s plight came to light when their mother was found at Kamuli General Hospital with the three children.Prossy had arrived at the hospital from an unknown location, and upon assessment, it was evident that she could neither hear nor speak, compounding her challenges. Efforts by the hospital's social workers and local authorities to support the mother and her children were unfortunately unsuccessful. With no other options, the children had been staying within the hospital premises, sometimes in the wards and sometimes sleeping outside, while their mother remained unable to care for them.

The gravity of the situation prompted the Kamuli District probation and social welfare officer to seek urgent help. GoodFuture and Hope Ministries was contacted to ensure the safety, care, and protection of Shamira and her siblings. After consent from Mukono's probation office, the children were officially taken in by Good Future and HopeMinistries on April 23, 2024.

Currently, Shamira and her siblings areenrolled in the education program at Good Future and Hope Junior School. Duringthe school term, they live in the boarding section, where they receive care,education, and support. During holidays, they visit the home of their paternaluncle, who has been located and remains involved in their lives.

Shamira is a bright, curious child who, despite her circumstances, shows resilience and a capacity for joy. With the support of Good Future and Hope Ministries, she is beginning to experience the stability and opportunities that every child deserves. However, Shamira needs a sponsor to ensure she continues to receive the care, nourishment, and education she requires to build a hopeful and promising future.
